Implant Retained Dentures

Implant retained dentures consist of dental implants that appear similar to titanium screws. The implants are surgically implemented within the jaw bone. This implant serves as a substitute for the natural root of the tooth. A small incision is made to insert the implant for a secure connection. These implants are used to support dentures. All in all, between six and eight such implants are put into position for comprehensive upper dentures. If our Orlando dentist determines you will benefit from complete lower dentures, between four and five implants will be inserted. The surrounding bone jaw bone and gums take about three to six months to heal in a process referred to as osseointegration.

An abutment is then attached to the titanium implant after the gums heal. Customized dentures are connected for a firm and lasting attachment to the implant with the use of a metal bar. The dentist will make the appropriate adjustments so you feel perfectly comfortable with the look and feel of your new implant retained dentures. There is no reason to fear this procedure as any potential pain will be mitigated with general anesthesia.
