Porcelain Veneers
The addition of porcelain veneers beautifies your teeth to bring out the best in your smile. Our dentist, Pedro Mora-Rosa, DDS, carefully trims enamel to the thickness of the veneer that will be placed on the teeth. However, the thickness of the teeth is not significantly altered. All in all, this trimming removes about 1/50th of an inch of the tooth surface. However, if the tooth is decayed, the dentist will trim that space to a greater degree. An impression is taken of the teeth as well as the surrounding gums. This impression is used to make the veneer.
The addition of porcelain veneers bonds them to the existing composite fillings or new fillings to guarantee a lasting bond. The internal surface of the veneer bonds to the enamel to beautify the teeth and ultimately bring out the best in your smile. Porcelain veneers are thin to the point that they cannot be detected by onlookers. In fact, some porcelain veneers do not require any enamel trimming at all. The shade of your porcelain veneers will match that of your teeth, ensuring you have a visually uniform smile.
