Composite Restorations

Composite restorations are added to teeth after the decayed portion is removed. There is no reason to fear this restorative dental procedure as our dentist, Pedro Mora-Rosa, DDS, numbs the teeth as well as the surrounding space with an anesthetic. A drill removes the decay, creating only slight pressure. The composite filling is then implemented for dental restoration. A filling is molded to fit the shape of your unique tooth. The composite filling is added to the tooth in a series of layers. These layers slowly build up to the point that they fill the hole.

The composite filling is cured in place with the use of a ultraviolet light. The light hardens the layers to the point that tooth functionality is restored. The new filling prevents bacteria from accumulating in the space where the cavity once existed. A composite filling will also prevent the nerve inside the tooth from being exposed and spurring even more pain. A filling will also preserve the tooth’s structure. It is even possible that a filling will save the entirety of the tooth.
